1998 Hyundai Accent
Already equipped with an impressive array of standard features not normally found
in the subcompact category, for 1998 the Hyundai Accent sports a new look at the
front and rear while retaining advanced technology, often found only in more expensive
cars. The 1998 Accent three-door is available in three models: Accent L, Accent
GS and Accent GSi, which replaces the Accent GT. All models receive new front
and rear bumper fascias, tail lamps, body side moldings and wheel covers. Four
new colors, including Island Green, Plum Mist, Cherry Red and Cool Silver, are
now available on all models. The four-door Accent also gets a new hood, halogen
headlights and rear deck lid to further improve the car's excellent styling.
Hyundai engineers have made the 1998 model even quieter than last year's model
through improved technology. The engine and transmission roll mounts have been
relocated to reduce vibration, while new engine and radiator mounts further minimize
vibration and idle noise. Finally, a new four-point power steering bracket replaces
the previous three-point version further reducing power steering noise. The three-door
GS and four-door GL models already host a wide range of standard equipment, including
five-mph bumpers, P175/70R-13 tires, deluxe full wheel covers, tinted windows,
five-way adjustable driver's seat, 60/40 split folding rear seat, cloth door trim
inserts, deluxe carpeting, tachometer, digital clock and body color rear garnish.
Power steering is now standard equipment on all GS, GL and GSi models.
The sporty GSi model comes equipped with P175/65HR-14 performance tires, alloy
wheels and a sport-tuned suspension. Power windows and dual power mirrors are
also standard for this year. Exterior amenities include a new bodycolor rear deck
lid spoiler, lower cladding and integrated front fog lamps. Sporty full-cloth
seat fabric and cloth door trim inserts, along with a leather-wrapped steering
wheel and available moon roof add to the sporty appearance of the 1998 Hyundai
Accent.
